Frequently asked questions about Fish Collagen Powder

Why is taking a fish collagen supplement useful?

In addition to healthy fats, fish also contains high-quality proteins. Proteins are essential building blocks of the body and play an important role in the maintenance and renewal of tissues. As we get older or start exercising more intensively, the need for proteins often increases.

One of the proteins found in fish is collagen. It consists of around twenty different amino acids, including glycine, proline and hydroxyproline.

Many people choose to add a collagen supplement to their daily routine. For example with a view to the external care of skin, hair and nails, or as an addition to their protein intake.

Arctic Blue uses collagen from the skin of wild Norwegian cod. The amino acid composition of fish collagen corresponds to that of type I collagen, the type of collagen that is common in animal tissues.

The collagen carries the MSC label, the strictest certification for wild fish. The product does not come from farmed fish or cattle.

What does science say about collagen?

A study conducted with Arctic Blue's fish collagen has produced clear results. In this scientific study(read the summary here) by a German laboratory, skin hydration was measured in 20 test subjects after 8 weeks of taking 10 grams of collagen per day. This showed a measurable improvement of 11% in the forearm. In the face, however, skin hydration turned out to have increased by no less than 35% through the action of the collagen.

How do you use it?

That depends very much on what works for you. We at team Arctic Blue enjoy stirring a scoop into our morning quark with oats, for example. You can also simply dissolve it in water, stir it into your smoothie or add it to a warm cup of tea or coffee.

What are the ingredients?

This natural version has no added substances and therefore contains only fish collagen peptides.

What is the daily dose?

The optimal dosage is between 5 and 10 grams per day. That is 1 to 2 measuring scoops. When you use collagen for the first time, 10 grams per day is recommended for the first month. After that, a daily maintenance dose of 5 grams is sufficient. That is why we put this on the packaging.

What is the composition per daily dose?

One measuring scoop of 5 grams contains 5 grams of collagen hydrolysate (≥95% protein).

Does this product contain allergens?

Yes, this product contains fish.

How do you store this supplement?

You can simply store this product at room temperature.

From which animal is Pure Arctic Collagen made?

From the skin of wild Norwegian cod (not from cattle/tilapia). We have a special certification for this, which shows that it comes from wild fish.

Please note: plant-based “collagen” does not exist; collagen is always animal-based.

How many daily doses are there in 1 jar?

A jar of 150 g contains 30 measuring scoops of 5 g (measuring scoop included).

What percentage of protein does the hydrolysed collagen contain?

The protein content (and therefore amino acid content) is at least 95%.

What does the blue MSC logo on the packaging mean?

It is a guarantee that the collagen comes from wild fish and not from farmed fish from Asia. The MSC label is the strictest certification for products made from wild fish. Checks are carried out to verify that it really is wild fish, that fish stocks remain at a healthy level and that the fishery does not harm the environment and ecosystem. Would you like to know more about the MSC label? Then read: Why the MSC label makes the difference.

What is collagen hydrolysate?

Collagen hydrolysate means that the fish collagen has been cut into smaller pieces of protein (hydrolysed), the so-called peptides. Every collagen supplement (powder or capsules) is a hydrolysate. In our body, the peptides are cut further into individual amino acids that are absorbed into the blood.

Which type of collagen does Pure Arctic Collagen contain?

Our collagen contains type 1 collagen. This is the main type of collagen.

Is this for men and women?

Yes, in everyone collagen production decreases with age.

Is this also good for athletes?

Athletes can certainly benefit from this. Collagen is 100% protein. Proteins promote muscle building, recovery and maintenance.

How long does this supplement keep?

All our supplements keep for at least 12 months from the date of purchase.

Product description

Just like the Pure Arctic MSC fish oil (capsules), this pure fish collagen powder is made in Norway from the same fresh, healthy, wild fish. The fish collagen powder owes its perfect taste to the very fast processing of the fish in cold Northern Norway. Arctic Blue’s fish collagen powder.

Frequently asked questions about omega-3

Why is taking an omega-3 supplement useful?

Omega-3 fats are among our essential nutrients. That means that, as with most vitamins, you have to get them through your diet. Because many people do not like real oily fish (herring, mackerel, sardines), an Omega-3 supplement such as fish oil or algae oil is convenient.

What does science say about omega-3?

Omega-3 fatty acids are among the best-researched nutrients. Thousands of studies have been done on the importance of these good fats for our health. That is why the European authorities have also drawn up official health claims that express the effect of the Omega-3 fats on the body.
The freshness of this oil and the high content of EPA and DHA are the reasons why the Pure Arctic Fish Oil is very suitable for increasing the Omega-3 Index and improving a disturbed Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance.
