Your dog may develop symptoms such as inflammation due to this imbalance. Giving your dog more kibble to increase his omega-3 intake is not a solution. The omega-3 to omega-6 ratio will remain out of balance.

But why is omega-3 so good for my dog? Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for your dog too, just like for us. They help with joint problems, osteoarthritis, and coat problems.
Omega-3 contributes to supple joints, good coat condition, and a better immune system (fewer allergies) in dogs, and combats excessive shedding, dryness, flakes, and red, itchy skin.
Omega-3 fatty acids have also been proven to have positive effects on the nerves, brain, survival time, and intelligence in dogs. Sufficient omega-3 is particularly important for heavier dogs.
Your dog must obtain Omega 3 through his diet. However, you find Omega 3 primarily in fatty fish, and that is not often on a dog's menu.
Omega-3 fatty acid ALA is found in vegetable oil, which they ingest through kibble. However, your dog actually needs the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. Only about 10% of the ingested ALA is converted into EPA and DHA.

Dog of 21-30 kg: 6 ml / 8-9 capsules
Dog of 31-40 kg: 8 ml / 11-12 capsules
Dog of 41-50 kg: 10 ml / 14-15 capsules
Do not exceed this dosage of omega-3 for your dog, unless the veterinarian recommends otherwise. Consult your treating veterinarian during pregnancy and lactation.
For chronic conditions, you can give fish oil continuously or, if necessary, temporarily in a higher dosage. Omega-3 supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet.
A poor omega-3 supplement loses its anti-inflammatory effect when the oil is too old.
And rancid fish oil is downright unhealthy for humans and animals. The first signs of oxidized fish oil are an abnormal fishy taste.
