How do I read the results of the omega-3 index test?

After taking the omega-3 test, you will receive the results report shortly by email. The first result is the omega-3 index. This is the percentage of omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA of the total fatty acid content of your red blood cells.

This value of the omega-3 index also applies to all your body cells. This percentage is almost always between 2 and 12%. The most ideal percentage is between 8 and 12%. 

The second result is the ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 in your blood. Ideally, the amount of omega-6 in your blood is no more than 1 to 3 times the amount of omega-3 (so between 1:1 and 3:1).

The ratio must also not be lower than 1:1, so no more omega 3 than omega 6.
